Week 1 - The Mighty Morand

Patrick is off to a flying start.

Best pick of the week: Bills over Chiefs.

Worst pick of the week: Steelers over Ravens.

Critical game of the week: Giants at Redskins.

Things look promising for my Lions, Jeremy's Bills, Bob's Eagles and Patrick's Jaguars.

Things don't look so promising for John's and Roger's Browns.

Of course, things are always looking fine for Jonathan's Patriots.

I don't know what team Jarrett roots for.

Jarrett's favorite team is also the Patriots. Guess I was a good influence on him.

I'm picking the Jets in that division.

Question for Mighty Morand: why did you pick the Bills?

Note for the Moderator: Update the spreadsheet to show results for all games played in week 1.

John: I know the Jets should get lots of fan support in Winnipeg, but I still don't think they'll win that division.

Patrick had a good week, but he was wrong on his "lock of the week" (Titans). Since he is a Jaguars fan, I trusted him and changed my pick to the Titans. Never again.

John: Why don't you add your predictions to the "Predictions" post?

John: Glad to get the win thats a great team (KC) over there and they gave us all they could...I wouldn't stop picking them (KC) altogether they will bounce back...Bills are just 1 game closer to their ultimate goal of winning the division and now have to turn their full attention to Oakland (another really great team)...only the team that works hardest (Bills this week) will get the win...people mostly picked the Chiefs (because of what they did last season - a great season) but the Bills gave their best effort to vindicate me on week 1...

I would post my predictions but I don't know what teams are in each division.

Here you go: http://www.nfl.com/standings

We'll even give you the benefit of knowing the first week's results.

On the 2011-2012 Season page, I now have the pool standings, and I will update it each week. I will try to come up with some creative ways to track each person's progression/regression.

OK, I updated the spreadsheet. The text is smaller than I'd like.

Progression - lines going up;

Regression - lines going down;

Mediocrity - lines look like the lines on Charlie Brown's shirt or a mountain range...

Lock of the Week (and upset meter) will be available on Friday any week that does not have a Thursday game. Stop by and check it out tomorrow at www.yesisaiditfirst.com

Jonathan - I can not accept responsibility for when you miss a pick because you based it on the Lock of the Week even though I did it too. I forgot to mention that the elment of no video study on the Jags QB also hurt the Titans. I had week one wrong last year too and still made the Superbowl with a survivor team.

If you would have taken more stock in the upset meter for week one you would have selected both Buffalo and Washington and cut that loner bonus points out of my score - I hinted those were over 50% upset potential. The danger is more to me than to you when people listen to me.

I am sure you will do well you had a good week 1

Someone once said, "As leaves fall in autumn, so too does Patrick's name in the football pool standings."
